LGBT Sexual Violence
/Sexual violence in the LGBT community can have a number of implications for survivors. Sexual assault happens to, and is committed by, people of all sexual orientations. This pamphlet does a great job of outlining what LBGT survivors of sexual violence might go through.
Some main points:
- Due to a lack of awareness of same-sex sexual assault in the LGBT community, silence may appear to be the only option.
- Survivors who are not 'out' may find reporting the assault to be more difficult
- Stereotypes of promiscuity may make one hesitant to report for fear of blaming and judgement
